Rock the Vote — ‘Turn Out For What’

Rapper Lil Jon and Rock the Vote are debuting “Turn Out For What,” a midterm elections-inspired song aimed at getting young voters to the polls in November.

A bevy of celebrities — including Whoopi Goldberg, “Girls” star Lena Dunham, comedian Fred Armisen, “Orange is the New Black’s” Natasha Lyonne, Sophia Bush of “Chicago P.D.”, ”Glee’s” Darren Criss, model Ireland Baldwin, and reality TV star E.J. Johnson — appear in a Rock the Vote music video for the single released Tuesday, a play on the auto-tune-loving rapper’s summer smash, “Turn Down for What.”

{mosads}The entertainers are seen addressing the camera with reasons they plan on “turning out” at the polls.

“My name is Lil’ Lena, and I’m turning out for reproductive rights,” Dunham says.

“Hi, I’m Natasha, and I’m turning out for prison reform,” Lyonne tells the camera.

“What’s up? It’s Lil Jon, and I’m turning out for the legalization of marijuana,” Lil Jon says.

Rock the Vote President Ashley Spillane called the track a “2014 midterm election anthem” in a news release. The head of the nonprofit and nonpartisan organization said, “With all of our partners, we’re demonstrating the impact you can have when you care like crazy about an issue AND vote.”

Lil Jon said in a statement, “It’s cool to collab with such an iconic organization.”

Super PAC NextGen Climate said it teamed up with Rock the Vote to produce the video, which it says would help spur young people who care about climate to register and vote in the midterms.

“Youth voters overwhelmingly agree that climate change is real, that it is happening, and strongly support taking action,” NextGen said in a statement.
