Obama gives Giants a thumbs up

President Obama reached out on Saturday to congratulate the San Francisco Giants, who won their third World Series in five years this week.

{mosads}Obama called Bruce Bochy, the Giants’ manager, and also gave his congratulations to Madison Bumgarner, the pitcher who named the most valuable player of the World Series.

“The president “said that he looks forward to welcoming the team to the White House in the coming months,” said Jennifer Friedman, a White House spokeswoman.

That visit will mark Bumgarner and Bochy’s third to the White House as baseball champions. The Giants also won the World Series in 2010 and 2012.

Obama made the call from Air Force One, which is taking him to Detroit to campaign for the Michigan Democrats running for Senate and governor.
