Obama among GQ’s ‘Least Influential’
President Obama and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) are among GQ magazine’s “30 Least Influential People of 2014.”
The commander in chief takes the runner-up spot on the list, behind “the Tom Friedman of rock,” Bono, and his band, U2, in the magazine’s ranking of “people who took up vast clouds of oxygen, [but] gave us back nothing of use.”
{mosads}GQ takes aim at Obama’s summer getaway destination in Massachusetts, writing, “Why are you still on Martha’s Vineyard?! Missouri is BURNING. Putin is conquering Europe. The [Centers for Disease Control] is playing nude Twister with Ebola patients.”
The magazine joins the chorus of critics who blasted Obama for hitting the links for a golf game shortly after announcing that terrorists had beheaded journalist James Foley: “How do you win the presidency without knowing that golfing makes you look rich and indifferent?”
Former Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who lost his GOP primary in a political shocker earlier this year, landed in the 10th spot on the list, while McCain came in 22nd.
The magazine writes of McCain, “No matter what foreign-policy stance the president takes, you can be certain that ol’ Johnny Boy will be there to call him a p***y — for either (a) not bombing people or (b) not bombing them enough.”
Also among GQ’s “least influential”: Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R), former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the Secret Service, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) and Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler.
The list is featured in GQ’s December issue.
