Holder on Obama’s hoops skills: Not bad, for a guy from Hawaii
Though Attorney General Eric Holder’s time in office is coming to an end, he still refuses to call himself a better ball player than Obama.
When asked to compare his basketball skills to the president’s at a National Press Club luncheon on Tuesday, Holder said Obama is still his boss.
“I’m from New York City, the home of basketball players like Nate ‘Tiny’ Archibald, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Julius ‘The Doctor’ Irving, Connie Hawkins, you know, Chris Mullin. The president is from Hawaii,” he said drawing laughter from the crowd.
“Now, I’m just saying that his background, he’s a good ballplayer. He’s got a real good left hand. He has the ability to drive. He’s 10 years younger than I am. He’s in better shape. He’s still my boss.”
A video of Holder making what some have called a “perfect” jumpshot at the Willie Mays Boys and Girls Club in San Francisco has been circulating the web.
“Viewed in isolation,” Holder said, “it is clear that I still have it.”
