Oates, of Hall &, says FLOTUS wanted them at WH

John Oates, half of the musical duo Hall & Oates, says he has Michelle Obama to thank for landing the singers a concert gig at the White House.

{mosads}”I think Michelle Obama wanted us, to tell you the truth. I believe that it was her request and that her husband said it was OK. So, that’s all right with me!” the singer tells ABC News Radio in a recent interview.

Oates and Daryl Hall were the entertainment Sunday at the White House, as the Obamas hosted the National Governors Association.

Oates revealed that the Obamas even asked for a certain 1981 hit be on the set list: “They did make a request: ‘Kiss on My List,’ they wanted.”

“I believe they wanted ‘Rich Girl.’ I can’t remember what were the other ones, but they’re the usual suspects,” he added.

While Hall said he met former President Clinton after recording the World Cup theme in the 90s, Oates responded to a query about why it took so long for the music industry vets to make it to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.: “I guess prior presidents weren’t Hall & Oates fans!”
