Brandon Flowers: Romney ‘wasn’t a great ambassador’ for Mormonism

Brandon Flowers, the lead singer of The Killers, says Mitt Romney “wasn’t a great ambassador” for Mormonism.

The “Mr. Brightside” singer, a Mormon, tells The Daily Beast in a wide-ranging interview published Tuesday, “I think Romney would even admit that he wasn’t a great ambassador for it. His answers weren’t great, and it made it even worse; it seemed like he was hiding something.”

{mosads}Flowers, 33, adds, “But there’s really nothing to hide. You can find out what you need to find out! It’s all there.”

The Killers frontman shared a meal with Romney in 2011, ahead of the former Republican Massachusetts governor’s presidential bid the next year. Flowers later said he and his band were remaining “neutral” in the election.

Flowers, whose second solo album is being released in May, says of his religion, “It’s still a very misunderstood thing. There’s weird rumors, and somebody just needs to clear it up!”
