Michelle Obama misses driving with the window down
Michelle Obama has one thing in mind when she exits the White House: hopping in a car.
“I was joking the other day, I just want to ride around in a car with the window open,” Obama says in an interview airing Thursday on “The Rachael Ray Show.”
{mosads}“It’s just like, I want to do that,” adds Obama, who typically gets transported in a motorcade with closed windows, in response to the talk show host’s question about her post-2016 plans.
While it’s been “seven or eight years” since the first lady’s been behind the wheel herself, she opens up (as she’s done in several recent interviews) about daughter Malia’s driving experience. The 16-year-old, who now has a license, was taught how to drive by the Secret Service since, Obama says, the agency “wouldn’t let me in the car with her.”
“Driving for Malia, I think, gives her a sense of normalcy, like the rest of her friends are doing. And my kids have got to learn how to live in the world like normal kids.”
Obama says to Ray of Malia and 13-year-old Sasha, “My hope is just to make sure that that they come out of this thing as functioning adults, you know?”
