Schieffer to interview Jeb Bush on last ‘Face the Nation’

Longtime news anchor Bob Schieffer will host his last episode of CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, when he’ll interview likely GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush.

The network announced Bush’s interview in a blog post on Thursday, where it teases the former Florida governor’s appearance by mentioning the recent controversy around his answers about the Iraq War and how his famous family might affect his candidacy.

{mosads}The 78-year-old newsman will retire after 24 years at the helm of the Sunday show. He lamented the partisanship and lack of friendship among politicians that has emerged in recent years in an interview with Yahoo News on Wednesday.

“It has changed the people who run for office now,” he said.

“I don’t mean they’re bad people, but they’re different. They have to raise so much money, they have to sign off with so many interest groups to get here that once they’re here they can’t compromise their positions. Their positions are set in stone.”

Throughout a career that spanned several decades, he’s had the chance to meet a host of important politicians.

“Some of ’em I like better than others, some of ’em I respect and some of ’em I don’t,” he told Yahoo.

“I still think most of the people in government are good people, but there are some exceptions.”

“Governor Bush looks forward to helping Bob Schieffer celebrate his last show as host of Face the Nation,” Bush spokeswoman Allie Brandenburger told The Hill in an email.
