Obama women plot European getaway
Michelle Obama is embarking on a girls-only European getaway to promote several of her initiatives.
The first lady will travel to London, Milan, and Vicenza beginning June 15, her office announced Thursday. Accompanied by her mom, Marian Robinson, and daughters Malia, 16, and Sasha, 13, Obama appears to have a full agenda of ahead of her.
{mosads}In London, she’ll get the word out about the “Let Girls Learn” initiative, an effort to help young women around the world attend secondary school and complete their education.
Then it’s on to Italy, where Obama will lead a presidential delegation to the Milan Expo 2015 as part of her “Let’s Move” anti-childhood obesity initiative.
Obama is poised to meet with American service members stationed in the Italian city of Vicenza as part of her “Joining Forces” initiative.
Obama “will also visit cultural sites in Venice before returning to Washington,” according to a statement from the White House.
