Hillary Clinton has joined Instagram, with her photo posted on the social media site Wednesday showing a sartorial selection of red, white and blue outfits.
“Hard choices,” the caption to the photo reads, a nod to her memoir of the same name.
{mosads}The former secretary of State’s Instagram bio describes her as a “doting grandmother, among other things.” She had more than 5,000 followers within minutes of her account being publicized.
Clinton’s campaign staff has promoted the 2016 Democratic presidential front-runner on other social media sites, primarily Facebook and Twitter. They also have a rapid-response website.
Many other possible and declared 2016 presidential candidates have accounts on Instagram, including Republican Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.), Marco Rubio (Fla.), Ted Cruz (Texas) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (along with his wife, Columba).
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who are all challenging Clinton for the Democratic nomination, also have accounts there.
Clinton’s entrance into Instagram was first reported by CBS News. The site sees more than 70 million photos and videos each day shared by users.
