Letterman: Bill Clinton practically interviews himself
David Letterman says when former President Clinton is a late-night TV show guest, the host doesn’t even need to show up.
The longtime “Late Show” host, who retired from the CBS program last month, recalls in an interview with Indianapolis Monthly having the former commander-in-chief as a guest.
{mosads}Letterman says he was “a little anxious” the “first time Bill Clinton was on the show.”
“Of course, what I learned about Bill was that you don’t even need to be in the studio for that interview,” Letterman added of the 42nd president. “He’ll take care of it.”
Clinton, a veteran of the late-night talk show circuit, appeared on one of Letterman’s last shows in May. In his tenth and final sit-down with Letterman, Clinton said if would be “a good thing for America” if his wife, Hillary Clinton, won her 2016 White House bid.
“I hope she does,” he said.
