Obama: No, peas don’t go in guac
President Obama has spoken: peas have no place in any decent guacamole recipe.
The commander in chief weighed in on the brewing, avocado-filled controversy during a Twitter chat on Wednesday.
Social media had been buzzing earlier after The New York Times published a green pea guacamole recipe and suggested in a tweet that readers “trust us” and add the unlikely ingredient to the classic dip.
But when a journalist posed the question to Obama, he sided with green pea critics, replying on Twitter:
respect the nyt, but not buying peas in guac. onions, garlic, hot peppers. classic. https://t.co/MEEI8QHH1V

The recipe — whose author wrote the peas add “intense sweetness and a chunky texture” — also drew the venom of other guacamole enthusiasts.
The Twitter account of the Republican Party of Texas wrote:
The @nytimes declared war on Texas when they suggested adding green peas to guacamole. http://t.co/EDTqbzzsyE pic.twitter.com/FHjTvCaNj7

Why would anyone add guacamole to perfectly good peas?
