When she’s not making campaign stops, Hillary Clinton plays babysitter in chief to her granddaughter, according to Chelsea Clinton.
The Democratic presidential candidate recently helped care for her granddaughter, Charlotte, after a three-day campaign trip, Chelsea Clinton tells People magazine.
{mosads}“My husband Marc [Mezvinsky] and I were at a dinner for a friend who recently got a new job, and my dad was out with friends, so my mom babysat which was really nice,” the 35-year-old former first daughter said in an interview published Wednesday.
Clinton, whose first book, “It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going!” hits shelves next week, also credits her mom with teaching her almost-1-year-old daughter movements to a classic children’s song. Whenever Charlotte hears “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” she’ll open and close her hands to mimic twinkling stars.
“It’s very sweet,” Clinton tells People. “She learned that from my mom.”
Clinton says her parents will sometimes make up excuses just to get a peek at their grandchild.
“Truly, this has happened now a few times, where my parents were just like, ‘Oh, I’m in the neighborhood. Can I come by?’” says the New York resident. “And I’m like, ‘You weren’t in the neighborhood. There doesn’t need to be a pretense.’”
