Member says ‘Hello’ to eleventh-hour spending debate
Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-Calif.) is saying “Hello” to some musical inspiration from Adele, while taking a swipe at Republicans and the year-end spending bill.
The California Democrat tweeted on Thursday:
Hello from the other side
we postponed this 1000 times
I'm sorry
we don't know
how to legislate
Republicans
made us
wait til the last date

Cárdenas’s version is a legislative-themed riff on the British singer’s smash hit “Hello,” released in October. With federal government funding set to run out on Friday, lawmakers are scrambling to work out a long-term deal or possible a stopgap to continue negotiations next week.
The tweet “was a collective effort,” Cárdenas’s office tells ITK in a statement, though it says the congressman enjoys Adele’s music.
“It is about the frustration of the debate on riders and paying for the country taking as long as it is, particularly since we could be taking up the bill to stop terror suspects from buying firearms in the meantime,” a spokesman says.
Social media users were quick to weigh in on the lawmaker-turned-songsmith:
I highly recommend that the omnibus be finalized while listening to Adele. The country will be better for it. https://t.co/bGklq0fO20
