Taylor Swift fans descend on Michigan rep on Twitter
Rep. Justin Amash is being grouped in with the haters who are “gonna hate hate hate hate hate” by some irate Taylor Swift fans, who are reacting to a tweet from the Michigan Republican.
Amash responded to a tweet from The Washington Post on Sunday that questioned whether pop sensation Swift should “get to trademark her birth year.”

The rights-management company for Swift, who marked her 26th birthday on Sunday, is reportedly attempting to trademark several phrases, including one of the singer’s song titles, “Blank Space,” ”Swiftmas” and “1989,” the year she was born as well as the name of her most recent album.
Supporters for Swift, who enjoys a loyal fanbase, came out in full force on Twitter:
@justinamash haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate.

The 35-year-old lawmaker responded Monday to one of the Swift-inspired tweets:
Whoa. That phrase is probably trademarked. Careful what you tweet. https://t.co/2Qtr1KPq92

Which prompted another Twitter user to write:
@justinamash @jench78 you got bad blood with Taylor swift? Can't wait for the response to you on her next album.
