Obamas have dog problem in White House
Michelle Obama says White House dogs Bo and Sunny will be getting “lots of new toys and treats” for Christmas despite some bad habits.
“They have been very good dogs,” Obama said of the pair of Portuguese Water Dogs. “I mean, Sunny can be naughty. Because you know what she does sometimes? She leaves the kitchen and she’ll sneak, and she’ll go poop on the other end of the White House.”
{mosads}“We’re dealing with that problem,” Obama assured the children gathered, before saying how popular the pooches have become.
“Everybody wants to see them and take pictures. I get a memo at the beginning of the month with a request for their schedules, and I have to approve their appearances.”
The first lady plans to get her husband moving this Christmas, gifting him with some workout gear.
The first lady revealed what will be under the tree for President Obama when asked what she’s giving him this Christmas during a question-and-answer session Monday at the Children’s National Health System in Washington.
“All right, press,” Obama said amid laughter from children gathered at the holiday event, “don’t tell him. He’s going to get some workout stuff.”
Obama, a healthy eating and fitness advocate who launched her “Let’s Move!” anti-childhood obesity campaign in 2010, added, “It’s not going to be very interesting this year, honey. Sorry.”
When one child suggested she instead give the president more ties as a Christmas gift, Obama replied, “More ties? Ties for you, babe.”
The executive mansion resident also indicated that her two daughters, Malia, 17, and Sasha, 14, are asking Santa for some cold, hard cash this year. “They won’t want me to waste my energy picking out stuff they don’t want,” Obama explained to the crowd. “So they’d rather just have the money.”
And despite a new naughty habit, Obama said dogs Bo and Sunny would be getting “lots of new toys and treats” this year.
