Fallon to Rubio: ‘Do you like my boots?’
Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio laughed Thursday night about all the attention paid to his stylish black boots during an appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon.
{mosads}The Florida senator’s appearance on the show started with Fallon putting his legs up on the anchor desk to reveal his leather shoes, asking Rubio, “Do you like my boots?”
Rubio said he did and asked if he could have them, saying he needed “a backup pair” — one in Iowa, another in New Hampshire. He said his own boots are in an “undisclosed location”
“I only wear them on weekends, nights mostly,” Rubio joked.
While the well-heeled boots have been the butt of jokes from Rubio’s GOP rivals and political observers for weeks, Fallon insisted that Rubio should wear them proudly.
Rubio has mostly brushed off the attention, such as Rand Paul jokingly calling the boots Rubio was photographed wearing in New Hampshire “cute” while the allied super-PAC for rival Jeb Bush featured them in a video accusing Rubio of flipping on issues.
