Robert De Niro leaves open option of leaving US if Trump wins
Robert De Niro is leaving open the possibility of leaving the country if Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump takes the White House.
“That’s a good question — I don’t know,” the actor said this week in Dubai, when asked whether he would remain in the United States if the Trump wins.
{mosads}The 73-year-old Academy Award winner, who last week released a scathing video that quickly went viral decrying Trump and saying he’d like to “punch him in the face,” continued to slam his fellow New Yorker in an interview with The National newspaper.
“I don’t understand how people could be seduced into thinking this guy has an answer,” De Niro said. “He has no answer.”
Repeating his assertion that he’d like to punch Trump, De Niro said, “This guy does not have a clue about what goes on in the rest of the world no matter what he says.”
“It’s disgraceful this guy was allowed to get as far he has,” the performer added.
“This is such an awful situation that I felt compelled to say something about it because people have been letting him get away with it for some reason, and now they are starting to react,” he said.
Several celebrities have said they’d consider packing up and moving out of the country — or planet — if Trump wins, including Miley Cyrus, Samuel L. Jackson and Cher.
