Garth Brooks open to playing Trump’s inauguration

He performed at a concert marking President Obama’s historic White House win, and now Garth Brooks says he’d be open to singing at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next month.

“It’s always about serving,” the country music superstar told TMZ in a video interview, when asked if there a possibility he would take the stage at Trump’s inaugural celebration. “It’s what you do,” Brooks added. The “Friends in Low Places” singer is in Washington to perform at Thursday’s National Christmas Tree lighting.

But Brooks says he has yet to receive an invite to the Jan. 20 event.

The 54-year-old chart-topper said of Obama in 2011, “I love him to death and I fully support him and I just wish him well because it’s got to be hell in that office.”

While Brooks may leave the door open on picking up his guitar for Trump’s inauguration, another famous face has made a point of saying he wouldn’t perform at the ceremony.

After an adviser to the president-elect claimed Elton John would belt out some tunes at the D.C. event, a representative for the entertainer told the New York Post, “Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration.” John had endorsed Hillary Clinton and had headlined fundraisers for the Democratic presidential nominee throughout the 2016 campaign.
