Jake Tapper’s debut novel due out next year
Jake Tapper is penning what could be considered an “alternative fact”-filled book: a fictional thriller about a congressman in the 1950s.
The debut novel from CNN’s “The Lead” host will be called “The Hellfire Club,” according to a Monday report from The Associated Press.
The book follows Rep. Charles Marder, a young New York lawmaker in the Eisenhower era, and his zoologist wife, Margaret.
{mosads}“Amid the swirl of glamorous and powerful political leaders and deal makers, a mysterious fatal car accident thrusts Charlie and Margaret into an underworld of secret deals, secret societies, and a plot that could change the course of history,” the AP reported, quoting publisher Little, Brown and Company.
Tapper said in a statement the book will “combine Washington intrigue” and a “fascinating time period” and will incorporate real-life political figures such as then-Vice President Richard Nixon and the Kennedy family.
The novel is poised to hit shelves in the summer of 2018.
