Olivia Wilde: ‘Trump seems so much like a toddler’

Actress Olivia Wilde compared President Trump to a toddler in a joint New York Times interview with fellow Trump critic Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) published Saturday.

“I’ll ask my son, ‘Did you brush your teeth?’ He’ll say, ‘Yeah.’ And I’ll say: ‘You did not. I was standing right here.’ It’s funny. Kids lie without any real strategy,” the actress told the Times.

{mosads}“That’s why Trump seems so much like a toddler sometimes,” she continued.

“His tendency to lie, when it’s clearly a lie, is something small children do. They also bully and take toys from each other. It’s something you’re supposed to grow out of by the time you’re 70.”

“Having some shame is a good thing,” Franken chimed in.

Wilde, who was a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign, is starring in the Broadway adaptation of George Orwell’s “1984.”

The play is set in the future where citizens under the rule of a totalitarian regime lead by “Big Brother.”

“Heavy times call for heavy stuff,” Wilde told the “Today Show” in June.
