Pataki: Kid Rock is ‘exactly the kind of candidate the GOP needs’
Former New York Gov. George Pataki (R) is a fan of Kid Rock.
The former presidential candidate said the conservative rock star is “exactly the kind of candidate” the GOP needs in a message on Twitter.

Pataki launched a bid for the Republican nomination for the presidency in the 2016 election, but he withdrew his candidacy in December 2015 after he didn’t get enough support.
{mosads}Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, has been hinting about a possible Senate run in his home state of Michigan for several weeks but has not confirmed that he’s running.
Ritchie has been gaining popularity among Republicans and has received support from the Senate Leadership Fund, a political action committee backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
“We’d be actually very interested in his candidacy,” said Steven Law, the leader of the PAC.
“The superficial sense of Kid Rock is that he’s an entertainer, that he’s kind of this wild redneck,” Law said.
“But the truth of the matter is that he’s done a lot in his home state philanthropically, he’s a pretty smart guy, he thinks about policy and he’s a shrewd businessman.”
