Kimmel: Let’s make Trump a king so he has no power

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel gave a political monologue Tuesday night, where he suggested that we “make America Great Britain again” as a response to President Trump’s actions.

The host said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Tuesday night that the president is “completely unhinged” and that his press conference Tuesday was “15 minutes of unprecedented insanity.”

On the show, Kimmel brought up Trump’s explanation for his Charlottesville response in a press conference Tuesday, when he said he “likes to know the facts” before he makes a statement. Kimmel then refuted it by mentioning how Trump accused former President Barack Obama of being born in Kenya and how Trump claimed Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) father was involved in President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

“I think we might need an alt-president right now,” he said.

{mosads}Kimmel then said that the country should “get creative” and proposed making Trump the first king of the United States. He compared it to the queen of England, who has “no power at all.”

“That’s what we need to do with Donald Trump: We need to set him up in a castle, maybe in Florida, lead him to the top, and then lock the door to that castle. Forever,” he said. “Everyone can call him ‘Your Highness.’”

He then spoke directly to Trump supporters, saying that he understands that they wanted to vote for someone who is different and would shake things up in Washington.

“But you’ve been trying to ignore it, because you don’t want to admit to these smug, annoying liberals that they were right,” he said to the Trump voters. “That’s the last thing you want to do. But the truth is, deep down inside, you know you made a mistake.”

He advised them not to “dig in like Chris Christie at a Hometown Buffet,” but instead to treat the president like “Star Wars” wallpaper in the kitchen: “All right, I got caught up, I was excited, I made a mistake. And now it needs to go.” 

“You know, everyone’s asking if Trump’s going to last four years. I’m wondering if any of us are going to last four years,” he added.
