‘House of Cards’ creator slams Trump’s Afghan speech
President Trump’s speech on his plans for the war in Afghanistan faces criticism from someone who has experience writing for presidents, albeit fictional ones.
Beau Willimon, who adapted the British “House of Cards” into Netflix’s hit show, blasted Trump on Twitter after the conclusion of his speech Monday night, implying ominous connections between Trump and Willimon’s creation, the fictional President Frank Underwood.
When I wrote a fictional scene of president saying to the camera “We make the terror” to deflect scandal, I hoped it would remain fiction.

{mosads}Willimon’s implication seemed to be that Trump was announcing a new troop surge in Afghanistan to deflect from mounting scandals in his administration, including the investigation into whether his campaign colluded with Russia to influence the outcome of the presidential election and the bipartisan anger over Trump’s remarks about racial violence at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va.
In an earlier tweet, Willimon posted a photo of Trump during his speech with a caption alluding to Trump’s desire to distract from his Charlottesville remarks.
Wag, wag, wag the dog
Quickly into war…
Desperately

Trump made strong remarks on Monday signaling a new direction in the country, telling Americans that the era of “nation-building” in Afghanistan by the U.S. had come to an end.
“We are a partner and a friend, but we will not dictate to the Afghan people how to live or how to govern their own complex society,” Trump said Monday evening. “We are not nation-building again. We are killing terrorists.”
