Trevor Noah: We’re learning about the presidency at the same time as the president
Trevor Noah, the host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” joked Wednesday that the American public is “learning about the presidency at the same time as” President Trump.
“For the first time in history, we are living through a time period where we’re learning about the presidency at the same time as the president,” the late-night host said at an event hosted by the Gates Foundation, where former President Barack Obama also spoke on Wednesday.

Noah’s comments come a day after the president gave his first speech before the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he promised retaliation against North Korea if it threatened the U.S. or its allies and pushed international leaders to condemn terrorism in their countries.
“You wake up, you read the newspaper, and you go, ‘I never knew this before.’ And somewhere at that exact same moment, the president is reading that same newspaper saying the exact same thing,” Noah said.
“And that, for me, is exciting,” the host added. “Is it scary? Yes.”
The South African comedian, 33, recently signed a contract with the network to remain as host, writer and executive producer of the “Daily Show” through 2022.
Noah replaced longtime host Jon Stewart in 2015 and frequently pokes fun at the Trump administration. Earlier this summer, Noah announced the network’s opening of a pop-up exhibit showcasing the president’s often-controversial tweets called “The Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library.”
