Colbert: Trump’s Puerto Rico visit a ‘disaster’
Late night host Stephen Colbert ripped President Trump’s visit to Puerto Rico on Tuesday, calling the president’s arrival the second “disaster” to hit the island in two weeks.
On the “Late Show,” Colbert criticized Trump’s comments in a meeting with Puerto Rico officials, where the president complimented the island’s weather, calling it “ ‘Trump-splaining’ at its best.”

Trump also said in the meeting that the relief efforts in Puerto Rico have thrown the U.S. budget “a little out of whack,” a comment that has been met with harsh criticism for being insensitive.
“That’s like a fireman rescuing you from a burning building and saying ‘You do understand what our water bill’s going to be now, right?’” Colbert said.
Colbert played several clips of Trump’s visit to the hurricane-ravaged island, including one of the president tossing rolls of paper towels into a group of people.
“After that, he went to a hospital and delivered antibiotics with a t-shirt cannon,” Colbert joked.
Trump spent a frenzied day in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, hailing the island’s relatively small death toll compared to a “real catastrophe like Katrina,” meeting with officials and passing out supplies.
The president on Wednesday will head to Las Vegas where a gunman killed at least 58 people in a mass shooting Sunday night.
