Newsweek’s cover: ‘Does God believe in Trump?’

Newsweek’s latest cover story examines President Trump’s relationship with religion, even drawing comparisons to Satan.

The Oct. 13 edition of the weekly news publication is adorned with a satirical version of Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam.”

The cover story, “Does God believe in Trump?,” tackles the president’s personal religious history and alliance with white Evangelicals, a demographic that helped Trump win the 2016 election.

{mosads}In the piece, Nina Burleigh examines Trump’s relationship with various religious groups, federal policies relating to religion and the pious figures who counsel him.

The Newsweek story takes direct aim at Trump’s record as president, seeming to compare him to Satan based on the number of lies he has told during his time in office.

“Millions of white conservative fundamentalists who take the Bible literally are awaiting the fulfillment of its prophesy about the apocalypse — the end of days — which will feature the rise of an evil force that will briefly rule the world,” the piece reads. “He goes by many names, among them the Prince of Lies.”
