Seth Meyers: Trump, Weinstein come from same ‘culture of systemic misogyny’
Late-night host Seth Meyers on Thursday compared President Trump to Harvey Weinstein night, saying the same “culture of systemic misogyny” enabled both men, who have been accused of sexual harassment and assault.
“This entire ordeal is yet another window into the entitled mind of powerful, predatory men who are used to operating without consequence,” Meyers said of the allegations against Weinstein.
Meyers accused Trump of misogynistic behavior, particularly toward San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, saying he shares Weinstein’s traits of dominance and power abuse.

“His campaign and now his presidency have been in many ways, a performance of dominance,” Meyers said. “A performance, that has in many cases, been explicitly misogynist.”
Meyers also pointed to Trump’s threats to sue the women who accused him of sexual assault during his campaign.
“This should not be a partisan issue,” Meyers said. “Men need to speak up and address their complicity in the system that allows these things to happen.”
Multiple women last year accused Trump of inappropriate conduct after the “Access Hollywood” video surfaced, in which he bragged about grabbing and kissing women without their consent.
Bombshell reports from The New York Times and The New Yorker in the past week have featured women accusing Weinstein of sexual assault and rape.
Meyers noted one key difference between Trump and Weinstein.
“Harvey Weinstein was, after far too long, found out and fired,” Meyers said. “Donald Trump has been found out for a year and we’re still waiting. What’s the hold-up?”
