Jimmy Kimmel shares photo of ‘healthy and happy’ 6-month-old son
Jimmy Kimmel celebrated his son turning six months old by sharing a photo of his “healthy and happy” child on Instagram.
The late-night comedian thanked Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where his son, Billy, underwent open-heart surgery almost immediately after he was born.
“Young Billy is six months old today,” Kimmel wrote in the caption. “He is healthy and happy and we are all very grateful for your prayers, good wishes, thoughts and support of @ChildrensLA and children’s hospitals in your area.”
Billy Kimmel entered the national spotlight soon after his birth, when his father revealed in an emotional monologue that his son was born with congenital heart disease and tearfully delivered a passionate defense of ObamaCare. Billy Kimmel will have to undergo two more open-heart surgeries as he gets older.
{mosads}“You know, before 2014, if you were born with congenital heart disease, like my son was, there’s a good chance you’d never be able to get health insurance, because you had a pre-existing condition,” Jimmy Kimmel said in May.
The video went viral and propelled the late-night ABC host into the national debate on health care. Jimmy Kimmel has become a vocal opponent of the GOP efforts to repeal and replace the health-care bill. A survey last month revealed that Americans trust him more than Republican Congressional leaders on health care.
After several failed GOP attempts to bring a health-care bill to a vote, President Trump took executive action earlier this month to ease ObamaCare regulations. Bipartisan leaders have been working on a deal to stabilize the insurance markets after Trump canceled the federal subsidies paid to insurance companies as part of ObamaCare.
