Seth Meyers ripped Fox News Thursday night for its positive coverage of President Trump.
The “Late Night” host pointed out comments Trump has made throughout his presidency about his intelligence, and credited Fox News with inflating Trump’s ego with its complimentary coverage.
“To be fair, you might also have an inflated ego if there was a whole TV channel dedicated to showering you with praise,” Meyers said.
Trump sat down this week with Fox Business Network’s Lou Dobbs for his 18th interview with the network, the 14th since taking office. Trump has not appeared on other networks in months, and hasn’t offered an interview to CNN, CNBC or MSNBC since before he took office.
Meyers played a clip from the interview, joking that Dobbs grilled Trump with the “tough questions.”
{mosads}“You came into this job fighting like hell, and you are fighting like hell every day,” Dobbs said in the clip. “Appreciate everything you’re doing.”
“Usually when you see an old dude slobber that much, he has a nurse with him,” Meyers said of Dobbs.
Meyers continued to slam the network’s coverage, saying that when they aren’t busy interviewing Trump, they are trying to “dredge up a series of debunked and overblown stories to muddy the waters” about Hillary Clinton, focusing on the recent reports that Clinton’s campaign paid for research that contributed to the Trump-Russia dossier.
