Colbert on Franken: ‘That photo was intended to embarrass her’
Late night host Stephen Colbert blasted Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) for claiming that a photo of him groping a woman while she slept was “intended to be funny,” saying that the photo was “intended to embarrass her.”
Colbert went after Franken after radio anchor Leeann Tweeden accused the senator of kissing and groping her without her consent.
“I guess there are no good people left, so let’s just get it over with,” Colbert said. “Just tell us whatever you did, Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama, Tom Hanks, Malala.”

Colbert then ripped Franken for saying that the photo of him groping Tweeden’s breasts was “intended to be funny.”
“Your movie ‘Stuart Saves His Family’ was intended to be funny, but was it? No,” Colbert said.
“That photo was intended to embarrass her, that’s why he did it when she was asleep. Nobody goes up to their buddy when they’re awake and says ‘can I draw a penis on your forehead?’”
The “Late Show” host also hit Franken for saying he would “cooperate” with an ethics investigation into his behavior.
“It would be wrong if an ethics investigation was done without his consent,” Colbert said.
Tweeden went public with her accusations against Franken on Thursday, saying the former comedian had written a skit for a USO tour in 2006 during which he would try and kiss her and that he had forcibly kissed her during a rehearsal.
She also released a photo of Franken groping her breasts while she slept on their return from the tour.
Franken apologized in two separate statements Thursday and called for an ethics investigation into his behavior.
