Sanders says she is baking pies for WH press corps
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended her pie-baking abilities on Wednesday, saying that she will prove her skills by baking pies for the White House press corps.
“Being from the south, I think one of the most offensive things that you can accuse somebody of is [serving] a store-bought pie,” Sanders said at an event Wednesday. “I absolutely made the pie and I have, since this week, purchased the ingredients to make many more.”

“I will be making sure I get those to some of my friends in the White House briefing room,” she added.
Sanders shared a photo of a pie on Twitter on Thanksgiving, saying she baked it at her family’s farm, leading some to question whether she baked it herself or pulled a stock photo.

“Show it to us on a table,” White House correspondent April Ryan responded. The exchange between Ryan and Sanders, which continued for several more tweets, has been referred to as #piegate.
“Don’t worry April Ryan, because I’m nice I’ll bake one for you next week,” Sanders responded.
Sanders added Wednesday that she used to make pies “for all of my neighbors on the street, so if you don’t believe me, you can go back to ask people in Arkansas.”
