David Cross makes sweet and sticky prediction about 2020 election
Despite one epically erroneous political prediction, David Cross is not giving up on election fortunetelling.
The “Arrested Development” and “The Post” actor told Rolling Stone last year he had “no fear” that Donald Trump would win the White House.
{mosads}“Yeah, I was wrong,” Cross said with a chuckle in a recent interview with ITK.
But the comedian also pointed out it wasn’t his first political crystal ball fail.
“I was also wrong prior to that in saying, I think … ‘there’s a good possibility that George Bush may go down as the worst president in history.’ And I was wrong.”
“I can’t wait to see who the next Republican president will be and see if it digs even deeper,” Cross added.
Cross says he’ll soon start work on a follow-up to his 2016 Netflix special, “Making America Great Again!” and anticipates a spring comedy tour with his new material.
“I’m not going to go guns blazing into trying to get an hour of political comedy, but I can’t help it,” exclaimed 53-year-old Cross. “It’s a thing we talk about. How can I not?”
And Cross is already ready to produce his next political projection. When asked who might throw their hat in the 2020 presidential race, he quipped to ITK, “Well, I think it’ll be a strong woman of color, so I’m going to go Mrs. Butterworth.
“I think America is ready for Mrs. Butterworth,” Cross said of the maple syrup queen.
“All bets are off” when it comes to candidates for commander in chief, Cross said. “I mean, look where we are. It could be anybody. It could be half-human, half-robot.”
Asked whether Trump would be president again come 2020, Cross responded, “I don’t want to jinx it by saying ‘no.’ You saw that happened last time.”
