Celebrity chef rips Trump for building golf course sea wall while denying global warming

Celebrity chef and vocal Trump critic José Andrés ripped the president Friday after he tweeted that the U.S. could use some “global warming” to combat cold weather.

Andrés took a jab at President Trump for pushing construction of sea walls at his Ireland golf course while repeatedly denying climate change.

Trump tweeted Thursday night suggesting that the record-breaking cold temperatures on the East Coast and Midwest mean global warming isn’t credible, prompting backlash from lawmakers, environmentalists and the Weather Channel.

{mosads}Trump has denied climate science in the past, insisting that global warming is a “hoax” invented by the Chinese. He has also stacked his Cabinet and Environmental Protection Agency with officials who have denied climate science and the human contribution to global warming.

Andrés, who is from Spain, was originally slated to open a restaurant in the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., but pulled out after Trump made disparaging comments about Mexican immigrants during his presidential campaign.

Trump sued Andrés for breach of contract; the chef then countersued.

The two reached a settlement in April, but Andrés has continued his criticisms of the president, particularly of his response to Hurricane Maria’s devastation to Puerto Rico.

After Trump retweeted videos last month from an extremist U.K. group claiming to show violence committed by Muslims, Andrés commented that “we did the right thing pulling out of your hotel.”
