Schumer to get first ‘Late Show’ sit-down with Colbert

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is going from the halls of Congress to the late-night hot seat, sitting down for the first time with Stephen Colbert on CBS’s “The Late Show.”

The New York Democrat will make his inaugural appearance as a guest on the nighttime chatfest on Monday, the network announced Wednesday.

{mosads}Colbert is a staunch critic of President Trump, lampooning the commander in chief on a virtually nightly basis on his show.

Other guests on the Jan. 15 show include actor John Lithgow and the Black Eyed Peas.

Schumer’s office didn’t immediately return ITK’s request for comment about his appearance.

When Colbert was revealed as the face of “The Late Show” after David Letterman announced he was stepping down in 2014, Schumer, 67, called the pick a “great choice” and urged the new host to keep the show based in New York.

The show ultimately did continue production in Manhattan.
