New Jersey governor declares ‘Bon Jovi Day’

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) declared Saturday “Bon Jovi” day, honoring the band on the same day it was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Murphy praised the band as “five musicians from New Jersey communities (who) believed in their dream and used their talents to form Bon Jovi, one of the most famous, enduring rock bands of all time,” according to the Associated Press.

The “Livin’ on a Prayer” singers got their start performing at bars around the state.

{mosads}Frontman Jon Bon Jovi is a Democratic supporter and participated in campaign events with Murphy, who was recently elected to replace former Gov. Chris Christie (R).

Still, the singer gave Christie, a longtime friend, permission to use his songs during his presidential campaign.

Jon Bon Jovi donated to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign and held a fundraiser for her.
