Pamela Anderson defends Julian Assange: ‘He’s so misunderstood’

Pamela Anderson is claiming WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is “misunderstood” and has been defamed by the biased media. 

“He’s so misunderstood, especially in Hollywood, and really hated, because of the Clinton monopoly on the media,” Anderson told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Wednesday.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has accused WikiLeaks in a lawsuit of attempting to influence the 2016 election in favor of Donald Trump by publishing stolen DNC emails.

“He’s been wrongly accused of so many things,” said the former “Baywatch” star. “But this is a way of keeping him down and keeping him ineffective. He’s just ruffling the feathers of people that are powerful. I always try to humanize him because people think he’s a robot or he’s a computer screen or he’s not this human being.”

Assange has been evading arrest at the Ecuadorian embassy in London for the past six years to avoid potential extradition to Sweden on rape charges or the U.S. for espionage. WikiLeaks previously published leaked U.S. military information.

Anderson, a former Playboy model and actress who now lives in southern France, has spent significant time with Assange in recent months that has sparked speculation of a romantic relationship between the two. While Anderson has downplayed the rumors, she has called him one of her “favorite people.” 

“Julian is trying to free the world by educating it,” Anderson wrote in a blog post last year. “It is a romantic struggle – I love him for this.”
