Advocacy groups create ‘I Really Do Care’ shirt, donate proceeds to immigrant groups

Advocacy groups are taking a jab at first lady Melania Trump’s controversial jacket choice this week by creating apparel printed with the message, “I REALLY DO CARE, DON’T U?” and other variations.

PSA, the clothing company launched by UpWorthy and GOOD, is selling a T-shirt and donating the profits to United We Dream, a youth-led immigrant group.

{mosads}“After Melania’s fashion disaster today, we figured we had to do something about it,” the company wrote on its website. “So we sprung our Rapid Response unit into action, called our friends at United We Dream, and are presenting here, a better message: We Care. We Really Do.”

The first lady sparked a social media firestorm on Thursday when she was photographed wearing a jacket that read “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” as she traveled to Texas to visit migrant children detained in a facility at the border.

Trump’s spokeswoman criticized the media coverage of the jacket, saying that “there was no hidden message.”

But President Trump contradicted that statement, saying in a tweet that the message referred to “the Fake News Media.”

“Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!” he tweeted.

Other artists and brands have created homages to the jacket, some of which are also donating the proceeds to pro-immigration efforts.
