Schwarzenegger says he would make a ‘great’ president

Actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said he would make a great president of the United States in recent comments.

“I feel like I would make a great president,” Schwarzenegger said in a recent interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). “But I feel that, at the same time, everything I’ve accomplished was because of America.”

Schwarzenegger legally can’t run for president because he was born in Austria, where he lived until he was 19, but he may not have given up all hope of becoming president despite not legally being able to.

“I mean OK there is the constitution,” he said in the interview. “We need some immigration reform, absolutely, to change that. But it would be a little bit selfish if I go out and try to change the law.”

The 76-year-old actor-turned-politician is best known for his role in “The Terminator” movies. A registered Republican, he served as the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011.

“America gave me so many opportunities and the American people were so embracive, and they just received me with open arms,” he said. “There was no one there that stopped me from my success.”

With a potential 2020 presidential rematch that is looking increasingly more likely in 2024 between 80-year-old President Biden and 77-year-old former President Trump, Schwarzenegger said he hopes America finds “young blood.”

“To me, it is a little bit odd that we are having a battle between people today in the late seventies and early eighties,” he said.
