‘Game of Thrones’ actress pays tribute to RBG at Oscars: ‘Khaleesi has nothing on her’
She plays a fierce dragon queen on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” but Emilia Clarke says her character has “nothing on” Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Clarke made the comments while introducing best original song nominee “I’ll Fight” from the film “RBG,” a documentary on Ginsburg, at Sunday’s Academy Awards. Clarke said the justice is “a woman who has spent her career at the forefront of the fight against gender discrimination.”
“Khaleesi has nothing on her,” Clarke — whose “Khaleesi” character Daenerys Targaryen is known as the “Mother of Dragons” — said to laughs from the audience.{mosads}
“Justice Ginsburg, if you’d ever like to borrow the dragons, ring me,” Clarke quipped.
Clarke then introduced Jennifer Hudson, who belted out a stirring rendition of the Oscar-nominated Diane Warren song as photos of the Supreme Court justice were projected behind her.
