‘Veep’-inspired suite and lounge coming to the Hamilton Hotel in DC
“Veep” is soon coming to an end, but for a luxury hotel in Washington, a whole new experience based on the HBO political satire is just beginning.
The Hamilton Hotel in downtown D.C. is unveiling its “Veep Suite” — a so-called Selina Meyer Presidential Suite and an Oval Office lounge — that’s decked out with inspiration from the series.
“It is the first time that HBO has ever loaned the props, the memorabilia from the set to someone else for this kind of usage,” Mark Driscoll, Hamilton Hotel’s managing director, tells ITK.

The hotel worked with prop masters and set designers from the show to bring the fictional ex-commander in chief’s crib to life. Among the items in the space: the real bar cabinet belonging to Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s character, the resolute desk from “Veep’s” Oval Office, Selina Meyer’s Smith College diploma and an oversized portrait of the show’s star, among other props, set pieces and tchotchkes.
Crafting an ode to the Emmy Award–winning comedic spoof on politics was a no-brainer for the hotel, says Driscoll, who describes it as an “opportunity to create a suite and an experience for guests unique, and unique to D.C., in its own way too, because the satirical component of ‘Veep’ just lends itself to something we couldn’t resist to be a part of.”
“If you’re a fan of the show and genuinely interested in what it has to say … I think this allows you to do it — albeit at a hotel on 14th Street in the nation’s capital,” says Driscoll.
Any guests or visitors at the Hamilton Hotel can stop in the Oval Office parlor on the 12th floor, but the presidential suite is only open to guests who book the “Veep” experience. The suite is available for reservations starting Thursday, timed to coincide with the Sunday premiere of “Veep’s” seventh and final season.
The hotel’s “Veep”-inspired digs — which boasts views of the Washington Monument and other D.C. landmarks — average about $399 a night. The “Veep” suite is scheduled to be featured at the hotel for at least another year and a half.
