Biden congratulates Elton John on his EGOT
President Biden is congratulating Elton John on his Emmy Award, which clinched the “Rocket Man” singer’s entree into the EGOT winners club.
“Sir Elton John has been a tidal wave throughout his career to help people rise up and make hope and history rhyme,” Biden said in a message posted Tuesday on social media.
“Six Grammy Awards. Two Oscars. One Tony. And now, one Emmy,” the president’s post said.
“Congratulations Elton — a singer and songwriter of our time, for all time,” Biden said, sharing a smiling photo of him posing with John at the White House.
The 76-year-old performer reached EGOT status — the exclusive group of artists who have won at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award — at Monday’s awards show in Los Angeles. John snagged an Emmy in the Best Variety Special (Live) category for his “Farewell From Dodger Stadium” documentary.
Biden welcomed the British music star to the White House in 2022, when the entertainer performed on the South Lawn as part of an event called “A Night When Hope and History Rhyme.”
