President Trump sent an envoy to monitor A$AP Rocky’s court case in Sweden, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.
The 30-year-old rapper pleaded not guilty to charges of assault on Tuesday, saying that he acted in self defense.
Trump has involved himself in Rocky’s case, saying earlier this month that he spoke with Sweden’s prime minister about securing his release.

Special envoy Robert O’Brien, who deals with hostage affairs, was reportedly seen at Stockholm District Court on Tuesday during Rocky’s hearing.
Ruth Newman, spokeswoman for the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm, told Swedish outlet TT that O’Brien was in Sweden “to look after the well-being of American citizens, which is always our top priority,” per AP.
Rocky’s mother, Renee Black, reportedly also attended the proceedings. She has said she was convinced her son was not guilty.
“This is a nightmare,” Black told Swedish media, according to AP.
Rocky was arrested on July 2 after voluntarily meeting police in Stockholm over a street fight in which he allegedly was involved.
He was charged with a form of assault which carries a maximum prison sentence of two years.
Magnus Stromberg, a lawyer for the alleged victim, said his client is seeking nearly $15,000 in damages, according to CNN.
