Former President Trump met with YouTuber Logan Paul on Wednesday and gifted him a T-shirt with his mug shot on it.
In a video posted to the social platform X by the account for Paul’s podcast “Impaulsive,” Trump is seen bringing Paul his signature red Make America Great Again hat and a shirt bearing his mug shot and the words “Never Surrender.”
“Is this your mug shot?” Paul asks.
Trump responds yes, and the influencer exclaims, “No Way! You’re a gangster!”
The former president says, “It sells.”
Trump began selling the mug shot merchandise in August after he was made to take the photo when he turned himself in at the Fulton County, Ga., jail over charges that he sought to remain in power after losing the 2020 election and attempted to change the results in Georgia.
Just days after having the mug shot taken, the former president reported he had already made $7 million from it. He said the prosecution’s efforts to make him look like a criminal “totally backfired,” and his supporters have been touting the “Never Surrender” shirts ever since.
Paul, now a professional wrestler, shared photos online teasing that Trump would make an appearance on an episode of his podcast, which releases Thursday.
“From interviewing for a college scholarship at 18 years old (Which: I didn’t get) to interviewing the president at 29. The glow up is real,” Paul posted on Instagram.
Trump confirmed the coming appearance on his newly created TikTok account with a video that shows the two face-to-face before they break into laughter, captioned, “Face off with @Logan Paul drops tomorrow…”
In a teased clip posted to X, Paul said he would like to extend the invite to President Biden to appear on the podcast.
“Yeah, I think he should. You know what chance of getting him on here? I’d say less than 1 percent,” Trump responded. “If you did that, I’d actually watch that.”
A source close to Paul said Trump’s campaign reached out asking him to do the interview.
They added that Paul’s team has reached out to Biden’s campaign with an offer to appear on the podcast, so the internet star’s audience can be presented with both candidates.
The Hill has reached out to both Trump and Biden’s campaigns for comment.
