Kate, Princess of Wales, shares health update: ‘I am not out of the woods yet’
Kate, the Princess of Wales, is giving a rare health update since announcing her cancer diagnosis, saying she is “making good progress,” but she’s “not out of the woods yet.”
“I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times,” the 42-year-old British royal family member said in a message posted Friday on Kensington Palace’s account on the social platform X.
“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” said Kate, who married Prince William in 2011.
After weeks of intense speculation and wild, social media-driven conspiracy theories, the mom of three revealed in March she had been diagnosed with cancer. The cancer was discovered following a January hospitalization for abdominal surgery.
On Friday, Kate said her treatment was “ongoing and will be for a few more months.” She also said she planned to attend King Charles III’s birthday parade in London on Saturday “and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”
In February, Charles announced he had been diagnosed with cancer while undergoing a hospital procedure for an enlarged prostate.
Sharing an image of herself posing under a tree, Kate said, “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”
“Thank you so much for your continued understanding,” she said, “and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”
