Monica Lewinsky applauds Drudge Report for labeling debate ‘The End’ for Trump

Activist and author Monica Lewinsky offered a rare praise for the Drudge Report for describing this week’s presidential debate between former President Trump and Vice President Harris as “The End” for the Trump campaign.

“Never thought that I — of all people — would applaud the Drudge Report. But here we are. (IYKYK)” Lewinsky wrote on Instagram Wednesday, using shorthand for “if you know, you know.”

The Drudge Report emerged on the national scene after breaking the story about then-President Clinton’s controversial affair with Lewinsky in 1998.

The outlet has frequently been critical of Trump in recent years. Lewinsky’s Instagram post featured the Drudge Report’s banner headline reading “The End” with a digitally rendered image showing Trump surrounded by cats, ducks and other small animals.

The headline and image were leading the Drudge Report website as the debate was still going on and into Wednesday morning.

The image was referring to one of the most notable moments of the debate, during which Trump screamed, “They’re eating dogs,” in a nod to the unfounded allegations that migrants had eaten pets in a small Ohio town.

Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), Trump’s running mate, came under fire for floating the conspiracy theory earlier this week and has since admitted it may not be true.

Matt Drudge’s 1998 report that Newsweek was sitting on a story about Clinton’s affair sparked a media fervor that continued for years and led to the president’s impeachment on charges of obstruction and perjury. Clinton was ultimately acquitted of the charges in the Senate and finished out his term.

After being thrown into the political arena when the affair with Clinton came to light, Lewinsky has emerged as an antibullying advocate and led various voter outreach efforts.

She is a well-known Democrat and urged voters in January to “vote Democratic,” but has stopped short of publicly endorsing Harris’s ticket.
