Tom Hanks urges people to use ‘common sense,’ follow coronavirus restrictions: ‘This, too, shall pass’

Actor Tom Hanks, who has tested positive for coronavirus, is calling for people to practice “common sense” and follow officials’ recommendations in order to mitigate the spread of the pandemic.

Hanks said in a tweeted statement that he and his wife Rita Wilson, who also tested positive for the virus, were feeling better two weeks after first experiencing symptoms.

“Sheltering in place works like this: You don’t give it to anyone – You don’t get it from anyone. Common sense, no?” the actor added. “Going to take awhile, but if we take care of each other, help where we can, and give up some comforts…this too, shall pass.”

Hanks and Wilson, who were in Australia for a film project when they became sick, are in self-isolation.

More than 349,000 COVID-19 cases and 15,308 deaths have been reported globally, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University
