Award-winning musician Adam Schlesinger died Wednesday from the coronavirus, according to multiple reports.
Schlesinger, 52, had won three Emmys and a Grammy and had been nominated for Oscar, Tony and Golden Globe awards.
His lawyer Josh Grier confirmed to The New York Times that the coronavirus was the cause of the musician’s death.
Schlesinger was divorced and is survived by his two daughters, according to Variety, which first reported the death.
His band Fountains of Wayne was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2003 for best new artist and best group pop performance for its hit “Stacy’s Mom.”
Schlesinger won the 2009 Grammy Award for best comedy album for his work on “A Stephen Colbert Christmas.”
He also won two Emmy Awards in 2012 and 2013 in the outstanding music and lyrics category for songs he worked on for opening and closing numbers of the 65th and 66th annual Tony Awards, respectively.
Schlesinger had also been nominated for Emmy Awards for his work on the series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.”
He was also nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe Award in 1997 for work on the Tom Hanks-directed film “That Thing You Do!”
Chris Collingwood, the musician who co-founded Fountains of Wayne with Schlesinger, had tweeted a statement from Schlesinger’s family on Tuesday confirming that the musician was hospitalized with COVID-19 and was on a ventilator.
