Julia Louis-Dreyfus after Biden win: ‘Madam Vice President’ is no longer a fictional character

Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the fictional vice president at the center of HBO’s “Veep,” celebrated the win of president-elect Joe Biden (D) and Vice President-elect Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) on Saturday.

“’Madam Vice President’ is no longer a fictional character,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus tweeted.

Dreyfus had appeared at the Democratic National Convention earlier this year to support Biden and Harris’s ticket.

Her tweet came after NBC, CNN, ABC and the Associated Press all called the race for Biden shortly before 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

President Trump has not accepted the race call, however.

Harris’s win is historic, making her the first Black, Indian and Caribbean American woman to serve in the country’s second-highest office. Harris, the daughter of two immigrants, will officially become the first woman to become vice president of the U.S.

Harris’s win elevates her to become the highest-elected woman in American history.
