Capitol Christmas tree lighting brings out lawmakers, protesters
SPOTTED: Rep. Luke Messer (R-Ind.), a dad of three, and his family posing for pics right after the Capitol Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) flipped the switch on the tree Tuesday night on the West Front of the Capitol. A group of child protesters from the Fair Immigration Reform Movement were heard chanting during the House Speaker’s remarks.
The tree hails from Washington state and is decked out in thousands of LED lights and nearly 5,000 handcrafted ornaments.
